More info
Matt,I have the '82 C30 tall rig with bow sprit (TRBS). The windlass is not mounted forward of the anchor locker, but it's mounted just forward of the anchor locker lid (it's mounted over the forward part of the locker). There looks like quite a bit of room between the lid and the bow to me, enough for a larger windlass than the Horizon 500 - like the 600 (I was under there again a few weeks ago to rebed the bow pulpit bolts). For a non-BS C30, the pull angle will be larger between the anchor roller and the windlass for sure compared to my installation. I'm not sure that would be a problem though. I use the engine to motor up to the anchor during retrieval and avoid the strain on the windlass (like S-L recommends in their instructions). I am also not sure how much room there is between the anchor roller hardware of a non-BS C30 and the anchor locker lid.I will have to check on the hawse pipe. I use an all-chain rode (1/4"). The well depth can accomodate well over the 250 feet of chain that I have. The well is maybe 1/2-filled with the chain (the anchor, a Delta 22 lb., is kept on the bow sprit roller). The switch box is the standard accessory from S-L, the one with the coiled wire. The removable box connector is permanently mounted on the aft inside wall of the locker, up high and in the corner of the locker where it won't get wet.Using a chain/rope rode, you could tie off on the standard bow cleats, again it looks like there would be enough room even with the windlass mounted. I have to use a chain stopper for the all-chain rode.No pictures of the windlass, but I could take some
