windlass
Structurally speaking, there is no place on the front of the boat for this. Should you decide to do so, you will need to beef up the deck structually. As for the need of a windlass, I cannot see it as you are dealing with a small anchor generally no bigger than 13 pounds. If you feel it will get caught or hang up, one simple solution is to tie a trip line to the back of the anchor and let it float on a bouy or fender and then pull up. Lost many anchors at Smith Mountain Lake and a couple at Kerr lake. An old salty seadog taught me this trick and never lost another one. It was geeting too expensive. That old salty seadog fed me some torpedoe juice getting me juiced up. Lost a few more brain cells. For you folks who do not know what torpedo juice is, think of good mountain sparkling water with a little good taste of what the others use to call, firewater.Crazy DAve
