Windlass removal

Need some advice - I need to have my windlass on my 411 repaired, and I'm having trouble removing it for service.

I've unbolted 2 forward bolts in the anchor locker, and 2 rear bolts in the forward head as well as the power and control wiring. But the windlass does not budge!

Has anyone had experience with this? I'm starting to guess that the unit was silconed in place either by the factory or previous owner. The next question of course would be how to break the silcone seal, without damaging the fiberglass in the anchor locker??

Probably a better chance it was 4200/5200.

I would try running a putty knife or something under the unit to see if you can break the bond. If that does not work, then something like de-bond may loosen up the material.

mine(lofrans 1000 electric) was securely glued to deck-- was torn up by a worker using coal chisel and broke my mounting pad wood, which was teak-- pissed me off--now my electric one is mounted on cypress. my manual one is mounted on something looks a lot like redwood...is gorgeous, thankyou, ross!!!!!!
but th e windlass took many attempts to remove--- good luck and try not to break your mounting pad.....use a very thin scraper to separate from decking.....
