All,
I just did some trading and ended up with a new Maxwell 500 electric
windlass. I wasn't going to put one on, but since I have it I might as well
-- plus I am rewiring the boat right now, so the timing is right. I also
recently traded some gear for a Delta 22# anchor that a guy had on a 35
footer which he agreed was way too small. It is just right as the primary on
the Vega. So I'm setup as far as ground tackle goes.
I know some of you have installed a windlass and was wondering what you did
to reinforce the deck? I'd prefer to install it a little aft and run a chain
pipe to keep the weight as far aft as possible, but that causes drainage
issues so I'll probably keep the rode in the existing chain locker. I would
be open to any suggestions and advice. Since I single hand I really don't
use the vee berth for anything other than gear storage, so having a big
double bunk isn't a priority.
Thoughts and suggestions appreciated,
