Windlass installation

Has anyone installed a windlass on a Beneteau 35s5 or something similar?
I have some questions about the location of the windlass, as the best location would be on the anchor locker cover. I would also like some background on routing the windlass wiring.

The anchor locker cover will not be substantial enough. Many Beneteaus have a shelf inside the anchor locker that the windlass sits on. Look at one, check out a 393 or 423 and you will see how the shelf is constructed. Very solid.

On my First 38, someone installed the windlass forward of the locker door, and it's NOT a good spot. It doesn't leave room for a chain lock, when the anchor is stowed, the chain ends up aft of the windlass, and it dumps the chain into the very peak of the locker, which creates a pile of chain that needs to be messed with to prevent the dreaded "cone of chain" problem.

After the survey on my 393, the surveyor said the windlass should maybe have a backing plate under the shelf for more support, now I'm scared it's gonna break! (haven't used it yet)
