Windlass for O'Day

I've been thinking about installing an anchor windlass on my 322. Because of the placement of the forward, shallow anchor rode locker, I am think of locating the windlass aft of the locker. The problem I am finding is that all the horizontal windlasses that I've researched have a through the deck tube feed for the anchor line and chain which would in the case of the 322 make the V berth the anchor line locker. Does anyone know of a windlass model that would be suitable on the foredeck of a sailboat (low profile) which will discharge the line on the deck so that it could be coiled into the existing locker? I use a 35 lb. CQR with 20 feet of chain and 250' of 5/8" nylon.Thanks.Bill

Bill, there is an article with drawings in the February/03 Sail on page 100. From what it looks like, the windlass folds over when not in use and allows room from rode storage. Might give you some ideas.Good Luck
