Has anyone out there installed an aftermarket windlass on a B331. I definately have to do this before we go cruising next summer and wreck my lower back again. I would appreciate advice on makes used and ease of installation.

I looked into a windlass for my 331 and concluded it was to involved, special solenoid, heavy duty wiring, and switches. The 331 does have nice shelf aft of the anchor locker door though. I checked to see if Beneteau had installed a conduit for the wiring, but they did not. Go to www.seatechmarineproducts.com, they have good information.

James,I installed an anchor windlass on our 2004 B 331.We ordered the boat from the factory without the windlass.We went for the swing keel that has worked very well for us.My wife bought the windlass from Beneteau that they would have installed.I did the install myself,it was not too hard.It came from the factory with almost everything that I needed including the wire.I did need a few more feet of wire because of where I put the breaker.Running the wire was easy.If you want photos and the exact windlass,e-mail me and I will take care of doing that when we go to the boat this weekend.It is a Lewmar,not sure of the model #.We have used it a lot,we have been to the Keys and Bahamas from NJ twice so far and it has been wonderful. bumsrest@aol.com www.bumsrest331.blogspot.com This is Patti's blog from our trip last year.
