Windex replacement

I need to replace the Windex on my 1997 B&R rig. Anyone done this before? The present mount seems to slide into a slot at the masthead. Can I use the Windex universal mount and simply slide this in as a replacement? Any experience is appreciated.

The ideal....

....location for any windex is forward and high above the front of the mast. The windex needs to be out of the end plate vortex of the main sail. This will give the most accurate reading of the apparent wind angle that the main is seeing.
