Wind velocity and angle not reading on Chartplotter.

I have wired connection between the B&G wind instruments at the top of the mast and the B&G Zeus GlassHelm3 chart plotter. About a month ago, the chartplotter only displayed "---" for the apparent wind angle and for the apparent wind speed. I have updated the chartplotter software which has not solved the problem. This happened a lit bit more than a year ago and replacing the instruments at the top of the mast solved the problem. Both B&G (Navico) customer support and the technician at our dealer feel that the instruments at the top of the mast are unlikely to be the problem since they were replaced just a year ago.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks!

If you go into the settings of the chartplotter it should be possible to go into the network setting and look at the sources. With that you can see if the wind sensor is still on the network and if it’s sending any data.

The two replaced-under-warranty B&G wind sensors sitting in my basement suggest yours can not yet be ruled out as the cause.

Yes, I agree with davidasailor. If you haven't yet, go through the initialization process as if you just opened the chartplotter box. In my system, which is based on the B&G Vulcan, there is often wind data issues as you described. The other issue is the tiller pilot's compass overiding the internal gps ... which of course will conflict with True wind value computations. For the wind data not being read issue, I have deduced that it's a polarity problem, and by simply turning the Vulcan off and back on again, the issue is solved and everything is beautiful in its own way. The tiller pilot compass issue is much more irritating, and I know there must be a simple adjustment, but I haven't taken the time to dig into the system for a solution. Perhaps someone here has the answer.... wouldn't that be nice... c'mon fellers, help an old guy out. I'm not that feeble, I attribute the delay to laziness and necessity. Since I have done very little cruising these last 5 years, I sometimes just cheat and go old school and take the thing off the network and go tiller only. I know, the sail to wind feature won't work in that mode, but...ugh... my head hurts.:banghead:
Okay, sorry to drift off into NEMO zone.... take Dave the Sailor's guidance... open up the manual and re configure your new system. Or you could just hook it up and turn it on and off.
