Wind Vanes

Has anyone any experience installing a wind vane on a boat with a walkthrough transom? Which brand did you choose? Would you recommend it? How much did it cost?

No, but I have spent lots of time. . . .

investigating, discussing, etc. And from that I know that a windvane can be mounted off center. One of the web-sites has several photos of this but I cannot locate it now.
