I need to replace my Wind Vane (just directional, not wind speed indicator) on my 2000 340. At this time Hunters site is not allowing questions to be asked for whatever reason.

Before I go up the mast, can anyone tell me the make, model etc of what I need to replace what is up there now. I'm really interested in what tools I'll need and will the holes line up with new wind vanes.

While I'm up there I guess I should replace the light bulbs also, as they are 13 years old now. So what will I need for that also.

Thanks for the help.

Lauren, are you talking about a Windex? like this?

Pretty easy to replace with a small adjustable wrench the only required tool.

I would replace the bulbs any time the mast is down, but going up by bosun's chair, unless you know the type of light fixture on your mast top, you can't be sure of what type of bulbs to take up with you. For example on our 99 H340, we have an Aqua Signal 40 combination anchor and steaming light fixture. The fixture/bulb info is on the West Marine site - search part no. 42411 - bulb info is there if this is what you have... The nice thing is no tools required.

How would Hunter know which wind vane you have? There are many different manufacturers that make wind machines and usually they are installed at the dealer level not at the factory. If you are talking about electronics (vague description), then you can look at the instrument heads in the cockpit and tell the brand. Then you can figure out what the masthead unit is. If you are talking about a Windex wind indicator, for example, and not electronics, then you have to ID the make of that item. You should be able to tell that from the dock level, however.
