Wind machine

My wind machine has been acting up for about a year now and was stopping and than would start working again without a problem but than just recently the speed is not showing any sspeed of wind but the direction seems to be working.
Has any body had problems with their wind machine and been able solve the problem or what did you do.
Before I start taking things apart and start checking things out ,I will call Raymarine forhelp or suggestions.

Yes, many of us have had the same problem.
First, check the 4 colored mini connectors on the back of your display. Over time they become corroded and need to be replaced. This is the primary cause for the problem you describe.
Another cause is bird poop or other contaminants getting on the mast head wind speed sensor and preventing it from spinning properly. Do the cups spin ??? If not, they have to be cleaned, if so, it's corrosion at a contact(s) or a bad mast head sensor "pot".

My wind machine is a ST50 and the connections at the mast head have proven to be a problem. What I do is spray both the transducer and the socket at the masthead with Deoxit and insert/extract the transducer several times before tightening. Also for some reason if I tighten my transducer quite snug it stops working, so I only tighten moderately. I never had a problem with it becoming loose, but it seems to have a "sweet spot" for tightness.

I know, it doesn't make any sense, but.......

I experienced the same issue 2 months and replaced the head. It was a plug and play.
