Anyone ever replaced their wind sensor up the mast? Mine doesn't show any wind information and brought down the instrument and seems its toast. Its a 608 Windsensor. Has even updated it to the newer WS310 or WS320? and if so, does it work with the same simnet cable up the mast? or does it need to be rewired? (ofcourse the WS320 is wireless, but curious what others have done).
Cheers

It looks like you can still get a 608 wind instrument…$550 on Amazon. No cable, just the device.

Seems like a simple swap…you did check to make sure all connections were tight, cable wasn’t damaged, etc.? Be a shame to drop $550 on a new transducer, climb the mast, hook it up and find still no signal at the display. :(

I see a WS130 on eBay for about $665 + $20 shipping. I cannot tell from the description if the cabling is the same or not.

Can you get a short simnet cable and test the transducer and display to verify it is t a cabling issue?

Maybe you already did that to determine “it is toast”.

I do not know about that unit but I had a Standard Horizon unit that had the same connector on the back of the display as at the top so that you could plug the masthead unit directly into the display to see if the problem was the masthead or cable.

I have the 608. cabling is the same 310. Just curious, what is the issue with your 608? You can buy parts for it if that's the problem. I think it would be wise to contact someone at B&G. In my experience, the problem with masthead sensors have almost always been from broken anemometers (the spinning thing) or a bad connection. But, I'm serious, check with the factory before you drop the bucks on a replacement.

The part that probably failed is the circuit board inside the unit. Those boards are no longer available.
