Wind in the wires?

I own a 1989 Legend 33.5. It's the first season we've had it and we LOVE it. Best handling boat we've ever owned. However, there's a vibration we hear (especially on the anchor or a mooring) that I've never experienced on any other boat. It sounds like truck tires on a highway. The rigging sings and it's a bit tiresome although we are getting used to it. Does anyone know of or has anyone experienced this "phenomenon"? Any suggestions?

My solution:

Our '92 33.5 does it if I have the main sheet hauled in tight with the topping lift set. As soon as I back off on the main sheet it stops. The boom then can fidget a little but it beats the annoying hum.

Thanks, we'll try that--"sounds" good!

much appreciated

Topping Lift Hum

I have experienced a similar hum, I have wrapped the main halyard around the topping lift several times similar to the spiral on auto aerials to reduce wind noise.

Ease the tension

At the slip, I use bungee cords on the end of the boom to the rails to hold the boom amidship, then relax the mainsheet and vang - it's good for the sheets and it keeps your topping lift from being pulled so taut that it "sings".
