I tried them and returned them.

I tired but could not get them to fit over the winch. They may work fine but I gave up after numerous attempts. Boat US could offer no help other than to return my money. I'm anxious to find out if there is a secret to putting them on. Hayden

Want mine?

Essentialy useless. About the only thing they did was provide the possibility of acting as a cleat, buy that wasn't reliable. Save your money. The trick to getting them on was dishwashing soap. And a lot of pushing, pulling, poking, prying, ripping, tearing and cursing. I think the cursing did the most good.

Winchers

Our new (old) boat has them. Didn't like them. They took up vertical room on the drum so couldn't get enough wraps on, they didn't hold the rope reliably and they didn't strip well. The winches were 24 years old and had no chrome left anyway, so bought a pair of Lewmar 40CST winches on ebay for a total of $1304 including shipping. Just arrived on my doorstep yesterday... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1825878501&r=0&t=0

Have them

and they aren't worth a darn. They do not strip line as advertised. They are marginally useful as a cleat, but only in light air.
