This is the original toilet in my 2004 Hunter 36. I am not sure which model I have but the only issue I have is leaking water around the pump handle and it occasionally requires more than usual pumping to draw water into the bowl. In reading the numerous posts, I realize the WC is no longer made so I am not sure a maintenance kit is still available. I am interested in others opinions on the best course of action given the age, make, and availability of parts for this toilet.

Part still available

Parts are still out there, including at West Marine.

The pump shaft packing nut it only $4.39. You can try tightening it, or repacking it yourself, as I have successfully done.

The pump might need parts. These are usually only available these days as part of a complete rebuild kit, about $70.

I used to have internet arguments with Peggy about this stuff. My W-C Headmate is 29 years old and has never been rebuilt as far as I know; certainly not in the last 13 years. I have a rebuild kit on hand, just in case. The only "maintenance" I do is to flush it well when we use it. Still going strong.

You could also convert to electric, which I have considered. A kit is available on eBay in the under $200 neighborhood. I have no experience with them, nor have I read any reviews.

Pretty certain that our WC head is nearly 45 years old and still functional.
