Will this trailer suffice for a h270?

I am thinking about buying this trailer so I can haul the h270 to my house to work on her when need be. Will this trailer work?

I would say yes. From what I can tell, your boat weighs about 5000 lbs without anything in it, and your draft is 3'6". It's made for sailboats, so I would give it a shot. I'd offer him $1300 and go up to $1500 if needed. Check all of the welds on the supports and the trailer itself just to make sure it's solid.

My only concern is it doesn't have trailer brakes. I'm looking into what that will cost to put them on.

It looks like it would to me. I welded up a cradle for a 270 a couple of years ago. It has more than 4 pads on it. You might want to add a couple more pads. I think we had an extra one in front of the keel and another behind it both were on the cross bars.

brakes for a single axel are about $400 and take an afternoon to install and bleed. Hold out for disk brakes. I had drum at first and the salt water just ate them up. I recommend staying away from TieDown Engineering. I used them on both my brake kits. I am not satisfied with the quality at all. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice . . . Plus, if the coupler needs work, you need a new coupler. You can't even buy a gasket for it. You have to buy the whole thing. Dico and Titan can be repaired reasonably. Other than that, it's pretty straight forward. A couple of wrenches and a socket set.

Congrats on the purchase. He seems real nice when I have spoke with him. I'm not towing it without adding brakes, I've towed 6000lbs before without brakes and will never do it again. Especially having a high center of gravity.

Chances are that your drums will accommodate electric brakes and you can add the brake assembly. I did that on one of my utility trailers. Not sure why there were brake drums on it with no brakes in them. The brake assemblies and drums are not to expensive if you can do the work. My boat is 5600 pounds and I have electric brakes on all four wheels on the boat trailer.

Generally, I have more trouble with electric brakes due to immersing boat trailers into the water on a regular basis which is why I do not suggest electric brakes on boat trailers that will be immersed on a regular basis.

Regarding those axles, I believe if I saw photos of the inside, you might be able to add brakes. Many salesmen will say no so you have to buy a complete axle when in reality, they are either tying to make more profit or simply do not know themselves. I would prefer disc brakes over surge and that is what you are seeing mostly on new boat trailers as standard.
