Will this bimini fit?

I am buying a Hunter 27 that does not have a bimini. The person I have hired to paint the bottom of the boat has an excellent reputation and does all kinds of work on boats in our area. I understand that he is authorized to perform warranty work for the factory. He ordered a bimini for a Hunter 26 but the owner backed out and he got stuck with the bimini. He believes it will fit but has to measure, first. If he feels it will fit, he will offer to install it at a good price. It is the right color. Does anyone know if this would be a good fit? For instance, the 27 has backstays and the 26 does not. Opininion? Experience? Thanks, John

John, from my experience with biminis on

sailboats, I think the split backstay issue on your H-27 will present a problem. I have had "standard" biminis made for other sailboats, but when I purchased my H-27, it had to have two cuts made and zippers put into it for the split backstays. Also, since my backstay was adjustable, I had to give up that feature, as any adjustment would have put the openings/zippers in the wrong place. Furthermore, I am assuming that your bimini will have a sunbrella cover for it. That, too has to have two zippers for the same reasons. I don't know how good your guy is with canvas, but he would have to do a lot of modifying to make the standard one work......what will it end up looking and fitting like? Socks on a rooster comes to mind!! Be careful. It may be cheaper, but it may end up being costly.
