Just This Moring...

...an expose on Pet Scammers was on the Today Show. Seems the scammers (located in Africa) post pictures of baby dogs that are put up for adoption. They "review" the buyer and want their money up front. They then will send you a confirmation email on where to pick up your "baby". Then they will send you instructions on how/where/when/which airport to pick up the "baby" (no questions about shots, etc. and also written in terrible English). Nothig ever shows up - you are screwed!

I have bought several items on Ebay,

including a couple of lap steel guitars, an autopilot, and strings for the aforementioned guitars.I have a small limit credit card with my credit union that I use for these transactions, and I make phone contact with the seller of possible.Most of my purchases are form sellers in Canada, with phone contact. I think my credit unoin will stick up for me in case of fraud. I get lots of scam email, both paypal and just bank(pretend)inquirys. If you're on the net, you get used to those, and act accordingly. I have turned a couple of the worst ones over to the RCMP, who say they can do nothing, but once in a while we hear that they have shut somebody down.So if anybody on the list wants to join me to save the fortune of the wife of a deposed African head of state. She has $24 million US, and she just needs some kind soul with a bank account........
