Who said a Hunter 30 (1980) is not a Racing Boat?

Our 1980 Hunter 30 just won 2nd place in Cruising Class B in the Mackinaw, MI to Little Current, Manitoulin Island, Canada race. This race was 130 nm and took place over 3 days. PHRF ratings were used - ours is 204. Leg one was 97 nm (20 h 48 minutes and 35 seconds)and leg two was about 30 nm (7 Hours 42 minutes and 34 seconds). There was less than 1 second per nm difference between 2nd and 3rd corrected time. We had Rain, no wind, too much wind (2nd reef used), fog, Hail and Hot sun. I have never flown a spinnacker after midnight until now. Great experience and we were treated like Kings when we finished. They had BBQs, Lunchens and banquets at the finish. We even had our own Classic convertible and driver to show us the Town. Highly recommend this race.

Way to go Sailor!

Nice going Stephen. I have read and heard so much about that race. Maybe someday, but as crew. I am not racing my old H37C. All I would need to do is mention to the First Mate that I needed something expensive to make the boat go faster. Like a spinnaker and pole.

PHRF of 204?

My 1979 33 has a rating of 162 and I have always thought that was low. SoCal PHRF rates a Hunter 30 a 186. You have a 204? What gives?
