My 08 H33 has an intermittent problem...the shift/throttle lever locks up tight as a drum...like it is welded....cannot move it at all and move from throttle/shift to throtle only...so stuck that I think it must be in the Whitlock, not in the 3ym gearbox....ideas??

Bruce,
couple of thoughts....
have someone move the throttle while you watch the cables on the engine and tranny-look for something bent or binding.
check the tension/lock screw on the pedastel-under a plug just forward of the shifter. if this is too tight, it can cause binding-too loose and the throttle can slip.
check the nut under the rubber boot on the shifter-if it's not tight, the shifter can bind.
Are you going to be at the boat this week? I might be up there thursday if the weather breaks

similar problem

My 04 H33 exhibited similar problems. What had happened was that the spigot at the end of the cable which goes through the gear change lever on the gearbox had some corrosion which had caused it to bind up and was therefore unable to revolve as the angle between cable and lever tries to change under pressure from the control lever.
Very easily fixed with emery cloth and some grease.
