Whitlock Constellation

I want to do maintenance on the steering pedestal on our 2001 420 passage. We have a Whitlock Constellation.
The manual is not very descriptive and I don't want to start ripping and tearing. Has anyone taken the compass off and then lifted the top off their pedestal (or pulled the wheel off ? I am wondering if anyone has any photos or tips on steps for the disassembly or things to beware of.

I would like to thank Sail SFbay for doing the digging and providing me with the above info. I have a different model but this info will hopefully help someone with the same gear as it is exactly the info I am looking for for my model.
Please feel free to send anything you have on the Whitlock Constellation in the way of photos if you have done a deep dive into one. We will lay the boat up for the winter in Sept, I plan to tackle it then and will post info at that point.
