I recently noticed alot of white smoke coming from my engine exhaust. What could be the problem?

White smoke is generally indicative of water vapor, which is either from the mixing elbow or a head gasket issue. Blue smoke = oil, black = fuel, white = water. Good luck

I had this happen

My 1992 H28 has a very small cooling water intake. There have been several time I have sucked seaweed into the hole and it had gotten stuck at the ball valve. Look at your exhaust and make sure water is coming out. The first time it happened, I looked at the raw water strainer and it was clear -- that's because the seaweed didn't make it that far. I had to close the through hull and use a piece of metal hanger (wire) to clear the blockage. I took the hose off, slowly opened the through hull and poked the seaweed back out. Be ready for a good gush of water! You should be able to see light though the fitting.

I once had the problem and thought the raw water intake was free, only to discover eventually that the seaweed was in the L-shaped hose from the thru-hull to the water strainer.
