Hello all!
New Hunter 38 owner and new to this forum. Been unable to find a cross section of the Selden furling mast so need some info. I want to mount a tee track on the front of the mast for a whisker/spinnaker pole. Looking at the base of the mast, there is a cable (VHF coax?) that runs up the front of the mast and seems to be in a channel at least as far up as I can feel. For those folks that have installed a track, are there concerns when drilling through the center of the mast for mounting holes?

Mast cables

The cable is either the VHF as you indicated or the wiring to the anchor and steaming lights. In either case they would continue up the mast till they reached their destination. I'd think that there would be issue with drilling the holes and hitting the wiring.
If all you need is a whisker pole attaching end then you don't need a track. You only need a track for a spinnaker pole. If you can deploy the jib you can measure the clew height off the deck and then transfer that over to the mast. You could then just put two (one on either side of the mast) whisker pole attaching rings at that height and avoid the mast front all together.
