Could use some help here. We have seen several cases where the wisker pole is stowed vertical on the fore side of the mast and mounted on a track which would improve single-person handling. Mine is a Cat 36. Any ideas or comments. Rick S/V Illusion

Good Idea

Rick, I have a 36 on which I store my spinnaker pole on the foreward side of the mast. I love it there because it's out of the way (no stubbed toes) and always set up, ready to use. I put a 6' section of 1.25" T-track, starting about 8-10" above the deck. A sliding pole car goes on next, and then end-stops for the T-track. For the upper end, I put on a mast-mounted pole chock made of some type of rubbery material. The pole-lift line stays attached all the time. To use, I ease off the pole-lift, which lowers the pole out of the upper chock. When the pole car reaches the stop at the bottom of the track, the pole goes forward to the stem, and everything gets attached. The pole car has a spring loaded plunger, so I can set the inboard end of the pole to any height when in use. Good Luck. Tom.

I have mine on the port side foredeck

I just purchased my 86 C-36 and it came with a spinnaker pole. The pole is kept on the port side deck, forward of the mast. I don't think I could keep mine on the mast because of the spinaker attachment is there with rigging to adjust the height. I think on mine, this would interfere with a vertical attachment of the pole. Les Murray s/v Ceilidh 86 C-36 #560
