A topping lift for the pole. A foreguy to go from the end of the pole to the bow to keep the pole from moving. A spinnaker would be nice, but maybe just use the pole with the foresail?

I have a 331 that came with a real nice Forespar whisker pole but nothing else.

I added to my port side two Spinlock XAS line clutches that match the starboard side. $160 each at Beneteau. (Or Ebay at 1/2 price)

I also added from Beneteau the 4 position deck line organizer that leads the lines back.

I also added four blocks for the base of the mast. There are two types. A full swivel flexible type and a type that only flexes in one plane. The full swivel is for the lines like the mainsheet and boom vang that exit off the boom, at the mast base. The other type is for the halyyards/toping lift/pole lift that exit at the side of the mast.

Then a Lewmar 16ST. Beneteau is by far the best price.

Finally I added the sheet hangers to match and hold the lines while stored and it matches the starboard side.

I have a spinnaker halyard and the mast head swivel block but hope to attach it this week.

So....from the port side I will have control of:
1. Spin Halyard
2. Pole Lift
3. Topping Lift
4. Boom Vang

Good Luck,
Craig

If all you're doing is poling out the jib with a whisker pole you won't need anything more than a ring on the mast to attach the pole to.

If you're talking about flying a spinnaker than you'll need a spinnaker pole, don't try and fly a spinnaker with a whisker pole, and all the other stuff thats been mentioned above.

And on the other hand, we get no explanation as to why not use a spinnaker with a whisker pole. At least a whisker pole is adjustable for other sizes of sails, not to mention other boat functions- like lifting dingys and motors and such. Ignore Randy.

Ron - Not sure what your problem is.

I never said a whisker pole was a bad thing just don't use it to fly a spinnaker. They are not built to take the loads a spinnaker pole is.

I have been using a whisker pole with my head sail for 20 years and I've never used the topping lift or the fore guy. The topping lift might help a little in light air, but I wouldn't say its necessary.
