I want to store my whisker pole on deck as opposed to inside the cabin. Is mounting on the stanchon recommended and does it interfere with the jib sail when tacking. I have seen both the the deck mount and stanchon mounts in the West Marine catalogue. Thanks to all for your advice and comments omn my many previous postings.

either system is fine....

you might also consider the vertical, mast mount option. Regarding the stanchion mount system, unless you have a deck sweeping headsail you should be able to mount the pole at a height below the sail's clew. The clew, with it's sheets knots would be the problem area for hang ups. Another consideration is crew safety and convenience. Practice some anticipated crew movements at the dock to see if you can uncover any potential issues in this regard. Then you can tweak the location to suit your style.
