which year hunter 28

I am new to sailing and very much interested in hunter 28 and notice a big difference between model years of 89-94 28 compared to 95-99 280 ,I will be looking to buy one of these boats with in the next year or so, can anyone give me info on which is better, I will be looking at used only .

Tell us all about your H280

Hi Ed,I considered looking at used H280's before I bought a H260 last year. My target was to get the largest boat that I could rig and haul myself (with large truck). A couple of dealers really put down the 280. Looking back, I wonder if it was because they couldn't sell me one since they were out of production. I like my H260 and have extensively modified it for cruising, putting over 500 NMs on it already, but the extra space in the V-berth and the shower sure sounded nice. Only 6" difference in beam I think and about 18" LOA.Can you step the mast without a crane? Can you trailer launch it on a good ramp? How does it sail and motor? Any other thoughts.So tell us about your boat.Joe C. in NC
