I think Sea Tow's deal is better.
Firstly, if only one service has a franchise in your location, go with that one or you will have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. To me, always cash starved, that's enough to overcome my preference for Sea Tow.The basic Vessel Assist membership gets you a 30 mile tow. The basic Sea Tow membership gets you an unlimited tow home. While most of the time most of us are probably within 30 miles of our slips or moorings, there are times when you might want to get home from further away. In the event of a major break down or injury or illness, the ability to essentially abandon the boat at a remote location and have it delivered home is nice.Sea Tow also offers dock to dock tows at no additional charge, as long as there is no emergency work that needs doing. I have never used this service, but I know our local SeaTow operator and when asked if I could really call him and say to bring my boat from my mooring in Falmouth to the public pier in Portland for a nice sail home he said yep - and added that I would owe hima lot of beer when he got off call that night. I would be reluctant to use that service (at least without a big tip fund) but it could be useful. The dock to dock I can actually see myself using sometime is to cruise out for the weekend, then have the boat towed home on Monday. Would double the range I could explore.Justin - O'day Owners' Web
