I am looking at both a Catalina 27 and 28 (used) the 27 would be the 270. I have a 1991 28 to look at this weekend. Can anyone give some advice as to what to look for. I currently have a Mac 26X and have been sailing for three years. Any advice would be great. Thanks Keith

If both boats seemed to fill the bill, then I'd look for the boat with the most goodies, especially electronic goodies if they come with that. Also sails, how many and what shape they are in; how much work needs to be done on the outside, etc. I'm wondering if you get more V birth with the 28, the 27's can be cramped.

I just make that decision. I'm going with the 28 becasue you get a full bunk in the back which is nice and I just like the layout of the 28 better. It feels much nicer inside and much less cramped. You have to ask yourself which you like better. Jason

You will find that that the Catalina-IMHO is a much nicer boat,is sturdier and is more user friendly. Remember though,as with any boat,you can afford the boat,BUT repairs etc get alot more expensive the bigger you get. BTW why not just jump to a 30? Alan 1987 Catalina 25 TR/SK "Leprechaun" #5612
