which itouch for sailing/marina needs

I'm deciding on getting an itouch and have noticed there are apps for sailing activities.

So my question is:

Assuming one gets the 4th Gen unit which has GPS related functions and a camera, what memory level should I consider? 8, 16, 32 64 ? Prices vary accordingly. I would use it largely for email/internet at the marina, a picture might a periodic benefit. Assuming about 3-4 GBs of tunes absorbing space, what amount of memory might I need to support sailing apss/charts. I doubt I'd fill 64Gbs before the newer itouch comes out.

Please share you experience and "wish I had done(s)"

Although I dont have an iTouch, I have and use a 16G iPhone and iPad. My daughter has a 16G iTouch. A 16G is enough. My daughter has 5 pages of apps, an entire movie, and an entire season of cartoon Star Wars on hers, plus about 3G of music.

Using one for a navigation, is fine... (I am sure there will be people who dispute that), BUT... it is not as accurate as a dedicated GPS. So if pinpoint accuracy is important you dont want a iAnything. IF close is good enough then you might actually want to use an iPad, which is just a bigger iTouch. I started using mine this year, and having a 9" screen is the bomb. Plus you might be able to get a Gen 1 iPad cheaper, since the Gen2 one is out.

thanks. I do have a Garmin for more accurate positioning. but the i-things seem like interesting devices/apps to have some fun with. The latest issue of BoatUS magazine arrived !today! - which seems to point to the iphone(I already have a cellphone ;<) with the most apps/utility. Thanks for the comment on the 16Gb as being plenty of space I'll check it out..
