Which furler to buy

Some furlers do not allow you to change or remove the headsail. I would avoid this type at all costs. Ease of installation should not be a priority in your choice.

Since your looking for a furler for such a small older boat it might not be cost effective. I havent done this, but i may on my '85 H22, but google for a pvc furler. One can be made for about $50. I think on the o'day forum they really go for these. There was even a post on this forum within the past three weeks asking about it.

Check out the CDI model FF1. Non-bearing model for ~ $300. Simple installation assuming "standard" forestay size and turnbuckle style. They are robust, simple and works well for a trailerable boat (the foil is a pretty tough synthetic and holds up well to abuse when raising & lowering mast).

I think I might try that PVC Furler on my 20' Highlander. The appeal is that I can use one of my current good jibs without modification. For less than $50. what is there to lose? It is so much harder to put this boat away than my 37-foot cutter. A furler would get me to the refreshments at least fifteen minutes sooner.

I put the Harkin small boat furler on my Mutineer (15') and the CDI-II on my h23.
Both work well for me.
I don't know anything about the PVC model but hey we throw away $50 on dinner.
