I just sold my 25 foot catalina in thoughts of moving up to a boat with more room. My wife and I do mostly bay crusing and plan to stay on the boat on weekends. My thoughts are in the 30 to 34 foot range at a budget of 38,000 incuding survey. The Hunter Vision seems to fit this bill and still be under budget. There are several for sail in the Baltimore area that offer a/c and refridgeration with all the bells and whistles. I see that there is alot of contoversy over the unique rig the vision offers and am trying to read between the lines to determine if this is the boat for me. I am not looking for speed but am looking for a compfortable crusier with single handling if needed. What does eveyone think of the vision and is there any other suggestions with the budget stated? Thanks in advance.

Me too, me too! I would really recommend a close look at the V 32. It is very easy to singlehand, has an enormous amount of space below and can sail well. In part, she sails well because when other people have their hands full, you are comfortable and in control. And, it's soooo nice not to have to think about standing rigging. I had one for nine years. If I had to size down some time, I'd get another.

The major reason I have a Vision was because of Rick D. We were looking for a boat in the 35-38 ft range.

These boats will take a really good blow without reefing, but it is obviously much more comfortable when you put one in. I think when the wind is really heavy, they are not as fast as some other boats because of the mast bending to spill off the wind.

They seem to do quite well in light to moderate wind and sailing down wind is like having a spinnaker. The main can be let out so it is nearly 90 deg to the beam. We have sailed our down wind, full main in 30-35 kts of wind. I really do not recommend this, but it was sort of amazing that it could be done.

So needless to say, we love ours. There are always things you would like once you get the boat but they are nice. I think the construction of the hull is different than the regular Hunters of this era. There is no liner/pan. There is also no rigging other than the forestay either. This takes a little getting used to but once you learn to not have all that junk you really don't want it back. The big main can be a handful, but that is what drives the boat.

I'd love to sell you a beautiful freshwater Hunter 30T but the Vison 32 is a big comfortable affordable boat. It may not sail the fastest but since you are not concerned about that, it sounds like a good choice for you.

Don't know about the Vision, but H320 is great for cruising and comes with A/C. You may need to repower the jib to a 120 genoa for more speed. I've had my boat for five years and sail 100 days a year.
