Can anyone tell me where to place a depth finder transducer that will register a reading by shooting the beam through the hull?. I don't want to drill any holes in my 1995 19' Hunter. Thanks.

I had put one on a 21' San Juan

and it was placed at the bow well ahead of the swing keel. I tested the location by filling the place with water and once I ascertained I was getting a good reading I pumped the water out and dried it. I then laid a pool of epoxy and stuck the bottom of the transducer down in it. Once it dried it held the transducer in place and allowed a perfect signal to go through. Make sure you have no air bubles. I tried setting one up on a powerboat but apparently the hull was porous as the the depth/fish finder could not transmit through it. The transducer had to be replaced for an outboard one.

Use a Baggie filled with water

If the boat is in the water you can fill a baggie with water and set the transducer on it to see if you get a reading. I put mine as far forward as I could. Once I found a spot I used part of a wax ring to set it. It's been there 2 years with no problems.
