All,

I recently purchased a 76 Hunter 30 and it still has direct pump out. I know that this is not legal anymore, and would like to plan the installation of a holding tank and pump out solution. Due to the location of the head in teh 30, my options are to move or shrink the fresh water bladder from under the port sofa, or to install under the vbirth on the port side. Both of which i am not thrilled about.

Any other ideas?

Extending longer hoses and installing the in the unused bunk port of the engine compartment.

Thanks

Sean

We do most of our sailing on the lakes in the area so we removed the water tank from the port sofa area and installed both tanks there. We put in two 13gal tanks and they will make it throw a four day cruse before needing to empty. We also replaced all the plumbing at that time. This was one of the best upgrades we have done.

On my 83 H30, mine is built into the port side of the vee berth. It's close to the head and the pump out fitting goes straight up to the deck. There used to be a hand pump out under the sink in the cabinet.

Same on my '83 H30. Removed and glassed in the overboard pump out through-hull last spring. No need for it in Lake Michigan. The hull at that location is solid fiberglass a full inch thick. Water tank is under the starboard sitee.

I put a 12 gal. plastic tank in the port storage under the bunk. A plywood sheet made the floor for the tank, keeping it supported, and leaving enough space under it to run PVC to the head. The vent and pumpout are directly above. tape the cover down to seal out any vapors.
