I have to replace a section of my cabin floor. It is teak & holly, 3/8 thick. I need a piece approximately 5.5 ft. X 2 ft. I did a quick web search and it looks like I have to purchase a 4 X 8 sheet which will be expensive ($200+), not to mention the shipping. Any suggestions for suppliers out there? I near Chicago. Any place where I can buy less than a 4 x 8 ? My local boat yard wants $500 for a 4 X 8.

Once I get the material I'll be asking for tips on how to cut this stuff so I don't waste it!

I bought mine in Annapolis, so no help there.
When you do get it, cut it with a router. I replaced the entire sole on my Hunter and used a router to cut the bilge hatches and the edge of the sole. Worked great.

Here is a list of lumber suppliers by state. I don't know how up to date it is, but it's a good starting point. Lots of other info on the site.

My experience buying T & H plywood was that you want to find the regional supplier and buy from them. The others buy from them and jack up the price accordingly. I suppose if you want less than a whole sheet it doesn't matter.

Just to go along with the crowd, I'll mention that I bought mine from ML Condon in White Plains NY. The shipping was cheap compared to buying it locally and paying the shipping plus a second markup.

I once was told that small Kubota tractors are shipped in teak crates, and the dealers throw them out. It is hearsay, and the crate is probably planks that require finishing, rather than plywood, but hey, it's a thought.

If the veneer itself is in good shape maybe you can dig
out any bad wood beneath it and fiberglass in a new backing
for the teak and holly top. It worked for me and cost almost
nothing. After all, you only see the top of the floor board.
