I need to replace the hoses on our system, and after reading the forum, thought I would use the AVS96, however the link to the AGS website was dead. I emailed the siteowner, and he informed me that they are no longer distributing the hose, but waiting for someone to purchase the patent registration. I didn't really understand his message as he said Dometic/Sealand has put them out of the marine sanitation hose business. At any rate, I still need hose, so my first question is, is there any place I might find about 20 - 30 feet of the AVS96, and if not, what is my next best alternative? Thanks, Scott Fuller Milwaukee, WI

You need to know the whole story...

If you'd like to email me (I'm in all the owner directories), I'll send it to you. Unless you can find a distributor who still has some AVS96 in stock, you'll have to use something else. I knew last fall that there was a good chance the Aussies would have to cease production of AVS96 and started looking for the best alternative then. It's NOT SeaLand OdorSafe. The best sanitation hose on the market now is Trident 101 or 102 (same hose, just one is white, the other is black). http://www.tridentmarine.com/stage/sanitation.htm It's pricy--about $9/foot...but is a double-walled rubber hose that has a bacteriacide in the rubber formula. Trident puts a 5 year warranty against odor permeation on it. The downside (in addition to the price) is that double wall construction makes the outer diameter 1/8" bigger than single wall hose...which can make it a bear to pull through a tight hole in a bulkhead. But the good news is, it's considerably softer than AVS96, which makes it a lot easier to work with.

May be offered again.

I received an email from AGS about the hose, here is what they said: "Steve, R#99 Thanks for your interest in AVS96 the superior marine sanitation hose, which has been temporarily taken off the market while we look at an offer to purchase our worldwide Patent Registrations for AVS96. We will know the future of AVS96 by the conclusion of business on Friday, February 10 th, and within a week we will advise everyone of that result. Bill Bemrose AGS-Australian Global Services, Inc. I'm sure glad...

that I re-plumbed my entire system on my 35.5 with AVS96 before this became an issue. Thanks for the update Steve, sure hope they can keep this stuff on the market.
