I have a 2000 Hunter 320 with fin keel. Want to place a Garmin sonar transducer to connect with a Garmin 188c sounder, without cutting holes in the hull. Does the shoot-through-hull transducer work well? Any tips on location placement or installation procedure to ensure accurate readings? All advice is welcome. Thanks.:)

Use a glob ofg vaseline petroleum jelly on the bottom of the transducer when trying to find places for it to work. It took several attempts to locate a spot that produced readings on my boat, ending up about 18" to the port side of the keel. I siliconed my transducer in place (after marking the location and cleaning off the vaseline) 8 years ago and it has worked perfectly since.
