This will work
It comes in a couple of different sizes, so make sure you get the right thickness - 9/16 sounds right for the big hatches, not sure if the smaller hatches used a smaller size. You can get a cheaper - though it is not as good, and it has a rectagular cross section - marine gasket at your local big-box home improvement center near the weather stripping. It is MUCH cheaper. I have used it in a pinch when I needed something right away to deal with a leak.
