Would like to find a trailer and all I can find are trailers for swing keels. Is there a company that makes trailers as the cost to store at the Marina is a bit excessive + I have to buy popits. Any info would be great. Thank you

Triad Trailers

I think there is an outfit in Connecticut called Triad (?) Traliers that might be able to make something for you. I think they make trailers with "popits" to support the boat so that the trailer can haul out boats with large keels. However, I do not think this type would be advisable to use on the road for a boat the size and weight of a C-25 and is probably best only for hauling around a yard. Nevertheless, they may make something with beds that would safely support your boat on the road. You must keep in mind that you will need up to eight feet of water to launch and retreive your boat. Is there a ramp nearby that has that depth? Further, tides in Connecticut can vary by almost a foot and a half, so sometimes you will have sufficient depth and at others you will not. In addition, are there electric, telephone, or cable television wires in the way at the ramp? Then you will have to both raise and lower the mast that will require assistants at just the right time. That means they must be there in the spring before the tide starts going out or you will lose your window and have to wait until the next day. Further, will they be there in the fall to help you lower the mast so you can get off the ramp area promptly. More to add, because you are in Connecticut, you will have to pay property tax on your trailer to your local municipality as you do with your automobile. The trailer is licensed just like an automobile. One more thing, do not forget that wonderful exorcism required to register your trailer at the ever so efficient Department Of Motor Vehicles. I believe you actually have to take the trailer to your local DMV, which may not be so local, although I do not think you will need to have your boat on the trailer. There they may require brakes, etc. and will need to know the weight of the boat you intend to carry. Lastly, you will absolutlely require a 120-volt air pump to keep the tires inflated. Some of these trailer tires require up to sixty pounds tire pressure. Skip this acquisition, and you will be very sorry.
