Looking for advise on where is the best place to fit a transducer and speed log to my Capri 22(2002 model). If any one has already fitted one i would really like to hear from you (email: officenational@bigpond.com )

The right place

I have a Catalina 22 and I know that they are similar. I mounted mine in the forward compartment in the bow. To make sure that it was working I used a wax ring for a toilet, worked the wax into a ball and stuck it to the inside of the hull and pushed the transducer into it. Being that my hull is solid glass in that location (if it is cored it may not work)the transducer will shoot right throught the wax and hull. Due to using wax I was able to play around and place the transducer in several location in this front compartment to find the best place. Once in place I used a plastic tupperware box cut to fit the hull shape to cover the transducer. This way I could store things in this compartment with out worring about bumping the transducer. Some people have epoxied the transducer to the bottom I did not do this as I wanted to be able to upgrade my depth unit any time. Good luck Art <(((><

Portside near Keel

Nicholas: When I bought my used 1974 C22 I found its tranducer located 1.5 or 2 feet (don't have the boat closeby now to check for exact measure) to port from the front of the keel, accessed thru the compartment under the forward seat cushion in the dinette area where you get to the lock down bolt for the swing keel. It was a thru-hull mount. Had to replace it once, but no problems with it there. Dick
