I am refinishing the teak on my Cat. 22, and there are teak plugs in the handrails. I also have a few screw holes that I would like to fill in the hatch boards. Does anyone know where I can buy teak plugs for this? If I take the handrails off, I have to remove the plugs to get at the screws, and in doing so will distroy the plugs that are now in there. Any help would be great. Thanks Dale

You can just get a bit and make your own. A proper screw fastening hole has three basic parts; a pilot hole, a bevel for the screw head (countersink) and a volume above the seated screw head (countersink depth) for the plug. I haven't found a hole on my boat that was properly done. I use a combination bit to get the hole right and a tapered plug bit to make the plugs. When you are re-using the old wood, any plug you buy is not going to be a perfect match anyway, so why not just get a chunk of teak and make your own? If you ever build a new part, you will have the tools to make perfectly matching plugs from the same wood you used for the project.
