..that's where it was when I bought my '75 h25 2 yrs ago. I like it, very visible.

My compass is mounted on a wooden slat that slides into the companion way track. I store it inside out of the eliments and have an electrical plug set up for night sailing. Most of the time I do not need the compass so it's stoad away.

Several On Board

I have several compasses and one GPS used for basic navigational concerns. The one compass is a bulkhead mount compass located on the starboard side of the cabin companionway. To port of the companionway is my GPS mount. Also, I have another compass mounted in the cabin on the starboard bulkhead on the forward end of the main saloon. This was the location of this particular compass when I bought the boat. I was going to get rid of it until several of us did a frostbite cruise and it was a good way to keep up on any directional changes while warming up below.
