Hi. I didn't get the autopilot (ST6001) installed at Beneteau, I'm having it done here (possibly a mistake on my part there, but I took advice locally and I am at least getting the one with the gyro). The guys are installing the linear drive today and were having a devil of a job deciding where to put it. The port side of the transom has a window and cupboard going through to the cabin so it can't go there, the starboard side has some space, but there are a bunch of pipes there. I think in the end they have decided to move the pipes around a bit and put the drive in there. This is, I believe, the same linear drive unit (S1 pack) which beneteau fits, does anyone have a picture or description of where they put it please. (the install guys were trying to tell me beneteau must use a wheel drive but I'm not buying that, I'm sure it's linear).

Beneteau 393 Newport
Aft quarter cockpit locker

is where Beneteau located the autopilot on the 393. They added a 1" thick piece of maple for reinforcement to the forward bulkhead and from there it is a short distance to the rudder. From the photos on the Beneteau web page, I surmise that you have the same locker available to you. Jim

B343 pilot

Hello We have a 343 on order also and was advised by my dealer to get the factory to install the 6001 system as it is quite tricky to after fit (they say) Sorry i cant help with the technical details. we are having the S1G upgrade done by the dealer. My friend sails with the 6001 and s1G corepack and says it is excellent on his Dehler 36 bye Frankcom

didn't know there was a 4000 option

I didn't even know beneteau offered the 4000 as an option. The installer had a bracket made installed the drive, I haven't seen it yet. If I did it again I'd get beneteau to do it, I was poorly advised by the dealer who got a quote for it locally but didn't factor in the labor charge which ends up making it cost about the same. I did get the pack with the gyro in it after reading the advice on this forum. I'll let you know how it goes, expect to launch a few days before the end of the year.
