On a 1998 model, where is the shore power electric isolator? Can't verify by electric schematic that came with boat. If it is standard equipment, how would I find it?

Isolator

The isolator will be located somewhere along the ground wire to the shore power. I installed my own and it is located in the area behind the control panel. If you can't find it, I would suggest that you call Catalina to see if your model actually has one and where it might be. The ilolator I installed is called a Zinc Saver II and can be pruchased at WM.

C36 MKII Isolator

My 1999 C36 #1786 has the shore power isolator in the stern, starboard lazerette right inside where the shore power comes in to the boat. It was mounted there by the factory as standard equipment. The boat is put away and I don't recall the brand name.

Thanks for the reply, re: isolator. What I was asking about is a galvanic current shore power isolator. I too have the standard A.C. circuit breaker located in the starboard transom lazarette. A galvanic isolater is to reduce stray d.c. currents which course through shore power cords, reducing the life expentancy of on-board zincs. Is your isolator one of these?

Thanks for your reply, and info on the galvanic current isolator you installed. You've confirmed what I thought, that Catalina did not install one on your new boat. Have you had time to judge whether or not it has extended zinc lift? How long? Thanks, Larry Youngman

Um, I thought is was. The boat is put away over 100 miles from home, so I can't check it untill spring, but I did think is was more than just a fancy circuit breaker. Gene Foraker

No problem, no urgency. Appreciate the return mail. Thanks. (P.S. Upper Sandusky Ohio is location of burial of my ancestors three generations back. Wyandot Indians! Never been there, but hope to see cemetary some day. Been an Oregonian all my life.)
