I recently came across the movie "Dove" that tells the amazing story of the then 16 year old Robin Lee Graham who ventured solo around the world on his sailboat. I recall the book "Dove" he wrote as well. By the way, its still a great sailing adventure movie. I have to wonder where Robin has been or if he ever continued on as a sailor. Reports surfaced back in the 70's after the movie was released that he moved to Montana. Cruising World will on occasion run, "where are they now" features, but Graham never makes the list. Its a long shot on this board, but I was hoping someone might know how this accomplished sailor is doing these days. Regards Bob

Movie Source

Don. I found the movie on Amazon.com. It was available only in VHS. They run (used) about $25-$30. Ebay had a few, but at a much higher dollar amount. Great inspiring movie for young and old alike. Nice to keep in the library, but takes a VCR to play it. Luckily I have the DVD-VCR combo. They used a Ranger 23 sloop in the film and shot alot of the scenes at the ports of call he entered. Glad to hear that Robin is still around and in Montana. I guess the mountains were more of an inspiration then the sea. Bob

mountains vs sea

As I remember the book, I think that after spending that much time alone on a 23 ft boat (he finished the voyage with one slightly bigger), the sea didn't look so attractive to him anymore. Tom Monroe Carlyle Lake

Found Some More Info.

Well, if I had done a search on Google earlier I could have avoided the question. It appears that Robin resides in Montana as a Construction Contractor, is still married to Patti and has two grown children (son and daughter). He engages in some missionary work around the world, I presume in the construction end. His around the world vessel was a 1970 Cal 24 "flat deck" that was featured on several sites. As to whether he still sails was never identified on the few articles written about him, but his influence on so many has maintained a following much to his credit and incredible adventure. I would like to say that their is a bit of Robin Graham in all of us. It just gets down to how much we wish to pursue our dreams. Regards Bob

Graham's "dove" was actually a Lapworth 24 which was a pre Cal boat with a trunk cabin not a flush deck like the early Cal boats. See link for picture
