Probably a stupid question but I cant seem to find it! Boats on the hard so it should be easy to find looking under the boat but its been evasive.

Anyone know where its located? Im painting the bottom and don't want to put too much paint over it.

Could it be that you have one that is installed inside the hull only? Only YOU can tell us that.

It looks like a small hockey puck mounted flush with the hull surface

depth puck

On my H310 it is located inide the hull in the floor beneath the the table. I believe just in front of the compression post. Just lift the floor panels and you should find the Knot and depth meter sending units.

Have you tried following the wire from your Nav station? If you have trouble tracing it there is a device (not too expensive) that sends a signal trough the wire you are trying to trace, it comes with a sensor that give off a beep when close to the wire.

Raise the floor boards and also check under the settes in the cabin. From the outside of the hull the puck should be visible as a bump. There is always the possibility that a PO replaced the original instrument and installed a transducer inside the hull to shoot through it, I would look in any comparment near the bow under the waterline.

I need to keep looking. There is a "puck" looking thing in the rear starboard of the boat but it looks to be under the glass behind the water heater...the search continues...

Maybe I missed it? Which model? In mine a 295 it is directly under the 'windshield' glass visible from three lookouts in the bench seating or from top v berth. My floor has rotted away due to Hunters piss poor fiberglassing. About 3' forward of it's water heater.

What model and brand of depth sounder do you have? Some models like the humming bird the puck antenna can just be glued to inside of hull and does not nessarily need to be located in front of the keel it can work just as well located at the rear portion of sailboat hull. And it is not nessary to use a destructive epoxy on the antenna to hold it in place. Goop will hold it in place just fine. Mine has been in place for about 5 years now no problem. And if I need to move it or something all I need is a putty knife or spatula to scrape it from hull and peel away the goop.

found it. Its right next to the 4 bolts that hold the strut in. Just to starboard of it about 8 inches. I found it brought the inspection panel just aft of the stuffing box.

And yes, it is a puck looking thing from under the hull!

Thanks!

I already painter over it with anti fouling so hopefully it still reads out accurately.

jared,

the farther forward you can mount that sensor, in undisturbed water........the better.
