This is my first year w/Hunter22. She's out of the water on her trailer. What should I do with her sails? She will be outside for a couple weeks then put into a pole barn...

Inside

I took my sails out of the boat and store them in my finished basement. But then this is my first year with my new to me boat so I'm not sure what everyone else does. One of my reasons is I plan on doing some cleaning of the sails. Jason

Always inside.

Either at home in the basement or at the sail loft. If I plan to have the loft clean them I will leave them at the end of the season. They will store them and then clean them, not sure in what order. Having the loft take care of them cost $$$$.

Do it yourself

Take the sails and spread flat on a lawn. Wash sails with a mild soap and water solution. Looks like you are in fresh water so salt should not be a problem. Wash (use a boat pole brush so you don't have to walk or knell on sails) Rinse off both sides and let dry. Takes very little time. Inspect sails for damage, tears, worn spots , fray. Repair ( see kits from west marine). Fold and store in sail bag in a dry spot away from animals (mice etc.) good luck
