I put seven new Schaefer cleats on my boat last year as the original ones were looking sketchy, five 8" cleats and two 10" cleats. Well after a year in the sun, four out of five of the 8" cleats turned a strange greenish-blue color, the other 8" cleat remained black but faded more than I would have expected. The 10" cleats look the same as when they went on. I contacted Defender who contacted Schaefer and after a couple of questions (e.g. how were they cleaned?), Schaefer is going to send me five new 8" cleats. Interestingly, Schaefer has not seen this problem before. Kudos to both Defender and Schaefer for standing behind the products they sell. Here's what they look like:
