Where can I look up my model year for pre nov '72 Oday 22

I just bought an Oday 22 Hull number 3239 Class number 209.
Was there a 1972 model year for the 22 or was there just 1973 model year boats built before Nov of 72?

This boat has no paperwork so I have no idea what year it actually is.

Ok, got my answer from several sources. I disregarded info on one site that said the first year was 1973.

1. The guy at D&R said he remembered Oday 22's being built in 1971. He also seemed to think that most if not all the '72 built boats were given a transom stamped HIN even though it wasn't required until Nov. of that year.
2. People here have 1972 model year boats.
3. I found an old 1973 ad on the Bangor Punta site for the "Oday gold medal fleet" that states that the model 23 was new for 1971 and the model 22 was new for 1972.

So what I have based on the evidence is a 1972 first model year boat.
If anyone else with a 72 or 73 boat would care to chime in with their class number i'm curious as to how many were built in the first few years. Mine as I mentioned is 209. Where was the class number listed on a boat with a HIN on the transom?

The "CLASS#" is part of the HIN on later boats, for example: XDYA07450573 is a 1973 model 22. XDY = O'DAY, A = 22, 0745 = Class# or Sail#, and 0573 means the boat was built in May of 1973. Some later boats (all classes) used Myym for the Model year indication where M = model year format, yy = Model year (last 2 digits of) and m - the Letter code for the month. The Model years ran August to July, so for 1977 the model year ran August 1976 to July 1977.

3239 seems low for the Hull# on a boat built in 1972-3 (I seem to recall 1972 was first year for the 22), my 1969 model Widgeon was Hull # 22698 and Hull# refered to TOTAL production of O'Days, not just that model. Perhaps they changed the format?

The one other really early 22 that I saw in a thread has a really low hull number that fits with mine, and i think I know of a third too, it seems they may have either reset the numbers right before the change over in nov 72 or something else happened. Its not missing any digits and is clearly stamped in good condition. Dunno if its just the 22's or if everything reset around that point, but its normal.
